Child once again

I know an old man

Affected by dementia

Little by little 

His memories fade away

Even in-laws became strangers

The same scene again and again

At the dining table

He would ask the same question twice

As time goes by

Three times

As time goes by

Five times

As time goes by 

Eight times

As time goes by 

More than ten times

And it stopped 

I don't know why

His desire for sweet things grew stronger

As he ages older

Chocolates, sweets, ice cream

A must, every single day

"Is it sweet?"

"No."

"Then, I don't want it."

Cute, but dangerous.

The desire grew stronger

A glass of sweet drink every meal

Breakfast lunch and dinner

When he drank half

"Give me more", he said

And more 

And more. 

He would fill up his dinner plate

With sate, nasi impit and tiny bits of everything

And in the end,

"Dear, take some of mine."

His wife ends up eating his

And it repeated 

Again and again.

And now I can clearly see

Life is a circle

You are born weak, clueless

Then, you grow, matures

Then came a time

When Allah takes what is His

Little by little

And you became like a clueless baby

Once more.

Allah said in the Quran:

وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ ثُمَّ يَتَوَفَّاكُمْ ۚ وَمِنْكُمْ مَنْ يُرَدُّ إِلَىٰ أَرْذَلِ "الْعُمُرِ لِكَيْ لَا يَعْلَمَ بَعْدَ عِلْمٍ شَيْئًا ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ قَدِير

Dan Allah yang menciptakan kamu (dari tiada kepada ada); kemudian Ia menyempurnakan tempoh umur kamu; (maka ada di antara kamu yang disegerakan matinya), dan ada pula di antara kamu yang dikembalikannya kepada peringkat umur yang lemah (peringkat tua kebudak-budakan), sehingga menjadilah ia tidak ingat akan sesuatu yang telah diketahuinya; sesungguhnya Allah Maha Mengetahui, lagi Maha Kuasa.

(An-Nahl ayat 70)

Open your eyes 

And you'll see

Truth is everywhere.
