Vietnam 4: Ben Thanh Market

Pengalaman di Pasar Ben Thanh

"Abang, abang tengok dulu!"

"Kakak, kakak, tshirt murah."

"Adik! What are you looking for?"

They can speak in Malay, obviously. Kena cakap dalam bahasa Terengganu or kecek Klate baru diorg tak faham.

They touch and pat you.
I was slapped!
On the shoulders. And a warning, "be careful" Because I hit her bags on display with my bag.

The women and young ladies touched my Dad.
Ibu should have said "Don't touch my hubby!" Hehe.

They put a very expensive price at first. Imagine RM35 for a normal tshirt. The "I ❤ Vietnam " kind of tshirt. You got to bargain really well.
At last, we got it for RM8!

Women sellers were softer than men.
Men: when No, it means No.
Women: they will take your price i you want to walk away. "Okay la, okay la"
Better than nothing.

On the way back to hotel, we passed through shops and many roadside-sellers.

They sell toys, fans and bookmarks. Old women (peasants, I guess) pushed their bicycles with baskets containing fruits like banana, rambutan & mangosteen slowly to potential customers.

We bought a kilo of juicy mangoes for RM25  from an old woman.

Then, a girl selling fans came to us. She spoke fluently in Malay. She tried to catch our attention. Seeing her failed attempts, she called ,

"Abang !"
"Abang botak!"
"Abang botak oii!"

Memang ah Ayah tak beli. Tak pernah orang panggil Ayah botak. Ayah ada rambut lagi, rambut nipis.

One thing for sure, they are very desperate.
